June 17, 2009 - "Month in Jail for Coed in Hazing Death"

A Utah judge sentenced a college student to a month in jail for the alcohol-poisoning death of a fraternity pledge during a hazing incident last fall.

Whitney Miller, 20, pleaded guilty this week to supplying alcohol to a minor in connection with the death of Michael Starks and was also ordered to write a letter of apology to Starks' parents.

The Salt Lake Tribune said Miller, a member of a Utah State University sorority, brought a fifth of vodka to a November party attended by Starks. She is one of 13 students charged in the incident.

"She's had a horrible time with this, and she feels responsible," said Miller's lawyer.
